Dear Friends and Family,

I am participating in the 1st Annual 5K Walkathon for the Samaritans of New York's Suicide Prevention Hotline.

With Fellow Volunteers, Past & Present, I will be raising funds to help The Samaritans continue to operate their 24-Hour Crisis Hotline and provide a place to
turn for those in need.  Like many other worthwhile causes, Samaritans has felt the impact of recent budget cuts and changing landscapes and needs support now more than ever.

Having been a Samaritan and volunteered on the Hotline, I know first-hand that when people in the NYC-Metropolitan area are feeling alone and need someone to talk to, they call Samaritans confidential 24-hour suicide prevention hotline. When it comes to providing help for people in crisis, Samaritans Is Always There.

Please support me in my efforts to help Samaritans continue to provide this invaluable service.  Every donation is 100% tax-deductible and Samaritans annual report is available upon request.

Samaritans of New York Suicide Prevention Hotline

Samaritans 24-Hour Crisis Hotline (212) 673-3000

With the goal of helping people in distress and preventing suicide, Samaritans free, confidential, 24-hour emotional support and crisis response hotline service is available on an immediate and ongoing basis to help people who are dealing with every kind of problem, illness, trauma or loss as they try to cope with their difficulties.

The hotline provides those in crisis (as well as the people who care for them) with a 24-hour safety net that can be used to fill-in service gaps, bridge between appointments and act as a source of ongoing emotional maintenance for those with chronic emotional issues.

“I have called the Samaritans Hotline, not because I was suicidal, but because I needed someone to talk to, someone who would understand my feelings of helplessness and sadness. Samaritans was very helpful to me. They listened to me with great care, and treated me kindly.” A Caller to Samaritans

Please Sponsor your Walker and help them meet their goal of raising money for The Samaritans Suicide Prevention Hotline!

Samaritans
provides emotional support to people dealing with everything from a bad day to a broken heart to some life-threatening illness or traumatic event.  The confidential 24-hour hotline is the only one of its kind in NYC and its Volunteers answer an average of 65,000 calls per year.

The Samaritans of New York consists of 120 caring volunteers--and it is these dedicated individuals that callers in crisis turn to during their difficult times and darkest hours, seeking someone who will take them seriously, listen to what they are going through and provide them with a hand to hold and shoulder to lean on.
